In 1904, Gabriel Posada and Valerio Tobón (the company's name is a combination of their surnames) began producing soft drinks. Soon after, their first product, Colombiana Postobón, also called "Cola Champagne," became very popular in bars, kiosks, and clubs. At the time, this product was sold from a donkey-drawn carriage. Due to the geographical challenges of the Andes, the company was unable to distribute its products in all cities and towns. At that time, Posada and Tobón decided to open two factories: the first in Manizales in 1906 and the second in Cali in the same year. Today, Postobón's soft drinks are known worldwide.
