Ingredients
-
1 can of of Sweetened Condensed Milk
-
3 tablespoons of Cocoa Powder (unsweetened)
-
2 tablespoons of Butter (plus extra for greasing)
-
Chocolate Sprinkles for coating
Directions
Prepare Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients and measure them accurately.
- Mix Ingredients: In a medium-sized, non-stick saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter.
- Cook Mixture: Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly. It's crucial to keep stirring to prevent the mixture from burning and to ensure it's evenly cooked.
- Thicken Mixture: Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. This process usually takes about 10-15 minutes. The mixture should have a thick, fudgy consistency.
- Cool Mixture: Once the mixture is thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool to room temperature. This step is important as it allows the mixture to firm up slightly, making it easier to shape into balls.
- Shape Brigadeiros: Grease your hands lightly with butter to prevent sticking, then scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on a plate or tray lined with parchment paper.
Coat Brigadeiros: Roll each brigadeiro ball in chocolate sprinkles until they are evenly coated. You can also get creative and coat them in crushed nuts or shredded coconut if desired.
- Chill: Once all the brigadeiros are coated, refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up before serving.
- Serve: After chilling, your brigadeiros are ready to be enjoyed! Serve them at room temperature for the best flavor and texture.
- Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
